Connecticut Grown

25 Jul

A week ago I got a call from one of my good friends asking if Little Man and I wanted to join her on a berry picking adventure. Pick your own is always fun and it is on our summer bucket list, so I immediately said yes and we made plans for the following weekend.

We went berry picking in the morning at Rose’s Berry Farm. The weather was wonderful and the views were gorgeous.

Little Man had fun eating blueberries straight off the bushes.

He also had fun dumping our blueberries out the bucket and giving them to other pickers.

Raspberries were picked as well but the bushes were pretty empty when we made our way over.

After we bagged up our goodies to get weighed and checkout. I even picked up a delicious local maple syrup from their farm stand before heading off.

Later in the afternoon we made our way to Belltown Hill Orchards for nectarine and peach picking. By this time it was way too HOT so we didn’t stay long.

Little man proceeded to try and eat peaches off the trees. Didn’t work too much for him considering they grew super high compared to him.

All and all we had a super fun time and it was great catching up with a friend! I can’t wait until we head back this fall for apples. My favorite time of the year especially with the homemade apple fritters, cider donuts, and cider.

Have you ever been berry picking or picked your own fruits in general?
